Hopecore? In a j-horror movie? Truly a one of a kind combination that works incredibly well.

The tone shift came out of nowhere in the best way. Grandma's just like "alright no more dementia, we're gonna defeat this ghost with pure vibes!"

I love the concept. Refusing to be helpless against the malevolence by living life.

Little broken Sayuri in the end really broke my heart. A young girl eating to obesity and not showering in an attempt to ward off an abuser is a very real situation that shouldn’t have to be. And then to be killed for finally trying to fight back against her abuser and those who are supposed to protect her. Despite the wild tonal shift, this movie hits on such a real world horror that is scarier than any ghost or movie monster.

I like how at the end the little ghost brother and his family take Sayuri with them as if to say we'll take you into our family so you're safe now.
