  What's crazy is that if Wyald killed Griffith before Zodd got him, he would have ended up saving literally everybody a lot of trouble. One of the most depraved villains in the whole manga accidentally saving the world because he wanted to indulge in his sadism. Now that would have been quite the plot twist.

  Honestly wyald being before the eclipse works. The band of the hawk couldn’t do ANYTHING against this guy and guts almost died fighting him, so when the eclipse comes and there’s monsters everywhere just like him, it just adds to the feeling of hopelessness. At least that’s how I felt when I got there

  He was a sheltered old man that was about to die and didn’t want to. He sold his soul to live out his wildest desires. He leaves little hints in the dialogue.

  Zodd had probably been dreaming of killing Wyald for years. Zodd may be bloodthirsty and violent, but he believes in a fair fight. Wyald just enjoys causing suffering
