This is spot on. As an ex-pat Brit living in the US, you mention all the things that I miss about my birth country. If other commitments did not tie me to the US I would be making plans to return.

History everywhere and you're right, we don't notice it day to day but we're very much aware it's there. I had a coffee in our small high street last week - the building is from the 1600s and I sat next to some original timbers. It's just part of life!

Completely agree! I love the self-deprecating attitude in the UK. I love the food, the history... I'm in Yorkshire at the moment and Leeds and Liverpool Canal was finished in 1816 and it's so well-kept!
