  Jacob, there even is a radio station under there that one can listen to from one&apos;s car. The engineers anticipated on people getting a little claustrophobic.<br><br>In the freight transport section (yes, many goods criss-cross the Channel too), there are proper restrooms where lorry (truck) drivers can relax, have a coffee, ... during the crossing.<br><br>There are also fast trains for foot passengers, linking central London (St Pancras Station) to central Paris (Gare du Nord) and many more European destinations.<br><br>That Franco-British mega project achievement is just awesome!

  If you are on foot you get on the train in London and off in the middle of Paris. - Done it twice

  I&apos;m in the UK and use the tunnel two or three times at year in the car and on my motorbike, as a rule they&apos;re very very efficient at getting you underway but their experience was a little different as they had their dog with them, without that you don&apos;t even need to get out of you car. The tunnel run three types of carriage that make up different trains, the standard car type is for cars up to 6 feet tall and is a double deck design with cars on both levels, then they have ones for high sided vehicles, the one they were on, for anything over 6 feet tall, so vans, 4x4&apos;s, caravans right up to full size buses. Then there are the heavy goods vehicles ones that differ slightly as the are open carriages with just a frame around them. Once you get to the other side, yes you can drive off straight away and just carry on, this is because you have already past through passport control for the country you are entering before you got on the train, they are literally 50m apart, so going from the UK to France before you get on the train you go through the British passport control, drive 50m (in no mans land) then go through the French passport control, so once you are on the train you are technically in the Country of your destination so you can just get off and go. They always advise you to turn up one hour before you train time to give you plenty of time to pass through passport control and vehicle checks and at busy times it can take a while, weekends/school holidays, Bank holidays, but the rest of the time it&apos;s fairly efficient. As for cost, well like anything that a risen sharply over the last few years, I&apos;m heading over in two weeks time for a week and a return ticket was £320 but that cover you for up to 5 passengers as you pay for the vehicle not the people, when I went in June on my motor bike it was £160 return and if you take a van or 4x4 over 6 feet tall of have a trailer the price goes up, it&apos;s all down to the size of the vehicle you&apos;re traveling in.

  I’d say most longer tunnels in (Western) Europe have cell service. They basically install cell tower antennas throughout the tunnel.
