  I, a three-wheeler Ryker, hand-throttle-turned left (at a standstill), lurched forward into the left escape point I chose, and the learning continues.

  Jamming on the breaks - rear and/or front - especially when your brain says you need to stop NOW, has been the hardest habit to break.  Squeeze the orange, practice makes permanent.

  I actually learned to ride a motorcycle before learning to drive a car. However, the last time I rode a motorcycle was back in 1998 or 1999, when I started raising kids for a hobby.Watching your videos makes me realize how much I've forgotten in the last 27 or so years. I'm planning on getting back in the saddle soon, so please keep the good tips and pointers coming.

  Following distance by far is my biggest fault when riding. Easily one of the easiest ways to improve safety.

  Always use your entire lane. Don’t share it with anyone. Always sweep the low horizon. Ride like everyone is out to get you. Riding since 1969 and never been in a motorcycle accident. But I’ve been close.

  My nemesis has always been following distance. Car, pickup or bike. I work on it constantly. It has improved over the years but still needs work.

  Here in the UK, what you call a head check, we call it what it really is... a lifesaver.

  I was fortunate to be introduced to motorcycles a decade before being able to drive. I got my first mini at 6 years old, and I was racing at 10.<br>I&apos;m thankful for my early start. &nbsp;The transition to automobiles was absolutely painless.

  <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y2AztAfO22s&amp;t=950">15:50</a> - Honestly, one of the great things about being on a bike is that it is dirt easy to just pull over, do stuff for a minute or three, then resume riding. &nbsp;In a car, that&apos;s a more difficult and hazardous thing, and harder to find a safe place to do so. &nbsp;Getting away from traffic for a moment and stopping to focus on something that needs to be attended to is easier on two wheels.

  I actually drove motorcycle for quite awhile before driving a car. After a life gets in the way of motorcycling pause I found myself forgetting to watch my rearview while stopped. And yes, I got tagged while stopped trying to turn left. Now I watch rearward almost as much as forward. Great scenery in your area BTW; I travel that area fairly often and am convinced you have the nicest roads in the US. Cheers from Canada.
