  In the UK, even with a tracker, even with you giving the Police the location of your stolen bike, they do nothing.. won't even go round and check it out, no you get a crime number to give to the insurance company and that's it.. if you want it back then best to gather up your friends and go get it yourself pfff then no doubt get arrested for offending and upsetting the thieves.. it is getting ridiculous here in many ways.. and I am not joking..

  Decades ago i parked my bike on a lit, dead end street, chained to a dead end sign, neighbor warned me, he saw 3 guys trying to lift the bike over the sign, they had a van! i got lucky

  I just lock my Suzuki to my ankle when I go to bed.   I woke up in someone's strange garage one day, but when I told them I was going to call the police they said "Oh alright. You can go."  I didn't have the key with me because I stupidly left it on my nightstand the previous night and had to carry the bike all the way home.  Never again.  Always keep the keys in your pocket at night and don't tell the thieves that you have it.

  I remember back in the early 80s talking to a guy whose Harley was stolen.  He parked it and went into a diner.  A van pulls up 4 guys jump out two have a big chain and two have a thick metal rod.  They slide them through the front wheel and the back wheel. Pick up the bike and shove it into the van that doesn't have a license plate and drive off. He told me he knew within 3 seconds what was going down and saw them through the window.  But by the time he got outside they were gone.

  I’ve had my first bike (a gixxer 600) stolen precisely as described in the first portion. I didn’t have it anchored, just a lock on the wheel. It was “guarded” by 3 cameras in front of the building literally overlooking my bike. It was 3 guys, 2 who walked up calm as can be and lifted it into their minivan at 3am. Police were useless. They couldn’t even be bothered to get the security footage from the landlord. I had to get it from the guy myself. I analyzed everything about the video, but in the end the police didn’t try to solve this one.<br><br>My third bike has had 3 attempts already. I learned my lesson and had it anchored with 2 chains. One time, the parking attendant who sat in a booth nearby (I was parked on the sidewalk in front of a parking place intentionally) scared off 2 guys, who came prepared with an angle grinder. Another time after I moved, I come back and one of my two chains was cut. A third time, the fuckers destroyed and removed (with a screwdriver or something) my ignition switch. However my chains were still on it and my battery was dead so they couldn’t take it anyway). <br><br>As a last resort if I have to ever recover it, and it never got to that point, but I have a gps tracker hidden in it, along with 2 AirTags as well as a <b>decoy</b> gps tracker under the seat. As a consolation prize if all else fails, I have full coverage insurance 😂
