  Props to Elara for covering this classic egoraptor video. The comparisons in the evolution in design between Castlevania vs. Castlevania II and Dark Souls vs. Dark Souls II are apt. History doesn't rhyme, but it echoes. I wonder why the development teams of the future didn't learn more from the past, but I guess every generation has to go through the same learning curves.

  I remember playing Castlevania in the arcades the first time in the 80s, but watching Captain N The Game Master is what really got me into the games later on. When I first played Castlevania 2 I recognized a couple of soundtracks they played in the background of Captain N. I thought that was cool.

  Every time, I see video about Castlevania II, I can't help, but mention, that Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, basically remade it in form of Classic II DLC

  &quot;Darksouls is one of the best games of all time&quot; that&apos;s very high praise for a game where the devs either ran out of time or game on on level design and enemy placement for the last 15-20% of the game. You can see where they stopped trying to make paths and simultaneously just started copy pasting monster spawns. It&apos;s not even an exaggeration as the data miners and modders confirmed how significant the downgrade in detail was for multiple end areas.

  To be fair about calling the color thing a minor complaint, Arin is an artist, he drew every lil cartoon fella in this show; so designs and color are VERY important to him

  Ah yes, Simon&apos;s Quest, my personal favorite outta the NES titles, and the one I replay most, I agree with something I heard once, Simon&apos;s Quest is the thinking man&apos;s Castlevania, I like planning my route and getting immersed in the world, plus, it&apos;s a whole touchstone for the later games like SOTN, IGA have stated in interviews that he was inspired by Zelda and Simon&apos;s Quest when making SOTN
