Blizzard&apos;s manuals were great too: larger than most, lots of art, lots of lore that&apos;s not in the game. <br><br>They died out as digital distribution made physical sales shrink and shelf-space more expensive. Boxes got smaller, manuals had less in them.<br><br>Not that games couldn&apos;t have a tutorial, but they weren&apos;t often a focus because the manual had that information. RAM and hard drive space was at a premium too. So if you feel like you&apos;re not being told critical information it&apos;s because modern gaming no longer use manuals.

  Sweet thing about Diablo was that it was one of the first mainstream procedurally-generated games, meaning no two playthroughs would be the same. It&apos;s common now, but that was a pretty big deal back then.

  A lot of the complaints are basically: i didnt read the manual. Back then manuals were very important and contained a lot of information. Today most is explained InGame, but back then it was different

  Suddenly spawning in is the best game start possible.<br>No tedious cut scenes of people talking and talking and talking endlessly. <br>You go right to the action. ❤

  A great thing about Diablo is that loot doesn&apos;t despawn. Ever. So if your inventory is full and you want to hold on to stuff you can just find a spot in town to throw it on the ground. Keep your gold in a pile next to the blacksmith, etc.

  In 1996, this was world changing for gaming. &nbsp;I had no idea I was playing history. &nbsp;Back then, games came with user manuals, and it was wise to read them ahead of time.

  One of the earliest [cheese] strategies people quickly developed for this game, especially for mages, was to completely clear level 1, save, then restart.<br>You did that a few times, then went down to level 2.<br>Rinse and repeat, until you acquired some reasonably decent equipment.<br>Butcher was hideous against a weak mage, but flesh-to-stone spellbook helped.<br>Speaking of, Butcher is on Floor 2.<br><br>Shrines:<br>Changes a few statpoints around. Or gave potions. Or revealed the full map (press tab). There&apos;s a guide online somewhere for exact changes.
