I check my portfolio when it's up and my weight when it's down. Like everyone.

I check my retirement and bank accounts EVERY DAY, but only for fraud activity. Don't sweat the variations due to the market at all.

We paid off our small yet comfy home in 1995. Drive old, reliable cars, and take all the vacations we desire. No debt. We retired in 2009 and did the snowbird life for 13 years, now we only own one home and travel cheaply all we want. We have always spent less than we brought home after taxes. Not rich yet happy.

Own our house free and clear as well as the house my son lives in. 2 million in retirement accounts with half in Roth's. Delayed Social Security till 68 to increase the benefit. Retiree Health Insurance is only $63 per month for us both with only $1600 max out of pocket. Purchased a Long-term Care Insurance in our early 40's with a 10 year premium rider which because of that is paid in full. The benefit is sufficient to pay assisted living or LTC in full for our lifetime. It even has 2 years of in home care. We have a Revocable Trust as well as Heritage Trusts for our kids. We aren't rich but we are more importantly "Secure"...!! The sacrifices we made years ago are the rewards we have today.

Ha! If you are still saving cash as a retiree, when the stock market plummets you can load up on good stocks at a bottom price.

I only have 8 of these, but since I have a high social security and a very high pension, I'm going to consider myself good. 😀 Thank you for this reassurance.
