My experience and understanding is that the only way to avoid paying higher taxes (because you made a lot of money or you realized gains) is by losing money, by giving it away or tax loss. So, if you are having to pay a lot in taxes, it means you made a lot of money... not a bad problem to have. Stop worrying about higher taxes and associated higher fees. You likely have money, you'll be ok.

For some, the fear of running out of money never goes away. My mom raised by parents who experienced the depression, still fears running out.

This was extremely helpful, particularly the insight that accepting RMDs and investing the unused portion into a brokerage account is actually a highly efficient mechanism for transferring wealth to one’s children.

"Retirement planning hobbyists" is a fantastic and very accurate desciption of a lot of folks. Some folks really enjoy the gamesmanship in planning.

You are literally one of the best financial retirement guys on Youtube. So many others are anti Roth even when the math on paper is breakeven, but there are many other major benefits to Roth conversions that you explained perfectly. Just the freedom to have a bucket you can tap for large purchases anytime in retirement without incurring a large tax penalty itself is worth the price of admission to me.

The inherited IRA tax hit for the heirs is an important point that you included! Great video.

Glad someone finally said it. Conversions are good upto a point, but some RMDs are ok if they keep you in the tax bracket best for you

Thank you for getting to the point early in the video about those with $500,000 or less vs those with larger portfolios. <br>So many retirement bloggers go on and on before revealing a crucial bit of information like that.
