Apparently retirement has made me care a whole lot less 😂 What’s ONE thing you’ve stopped caring about as you’ve gotten older? And if you’re not retired yet, what do you wish you could stop caring about? I want to hear yours!

I’m a 59 yr old ER doctor. I am so done! After 25 years working in the ER, I am retiring in 9 months, just before I turn 60. I can’t wait!  I am exhausted.  Even before I officially retire, I can absolutely relate to everything in your video. You put a big smile on my face as I watched your video and had my morning coffee. So relatable. I have a few hours before going into my next shift in the very busy trauma center. But my time is coming soon. So close, and yet so far. Thanks for this awesome video.

I never understood old retired people as a young person. The whole thing of getting up at 3am to go get a cup of coffee.  Now at 50 I recently started asking retired people about what to prepare for in retirement and specifically on the crazy hours topic. An older gentleman told me " when you are retired you are on your own schedule not on anybody else's schedule, if I want to get up at 1am and go sit on the porch then at 3am eat breakfast and go back to bed at 6am I could care less.

My wife and I turned 50 5 years ago. We sold our house and bought some acreage in rural southeastern Illinois. We live in a shed house and absolutely love it. I work summer and fall driving a concrete truck when they need me. She drives a school bus. We are done with 12-16 hour days 6 days a week or more. We are done with $10,000 tax bills and $1800/ month mortgage. We are done with car loans. Money in the bank, no neighbors is pure bliss! We are out of the bullshit and loving it!!!

People in general have lost their minds, so being less social has been pure joy. When sanity returns, I will join the party again.

I'm a  57 year old RN and so over everything. Mostly I'm over my co-workers, management and politics. I have 2 more years before I get out and I dont even know if I will make it until then!!!  Once I do retire, I'm sitting on the couch for about 6 months straight!!! lol

The older I get, the less “sociable” I seem to become—not because I don’t care about people, but because I just don’t have the patience for unnecessary social friction or superficial interactions anymore. I’ve become much more protective of my peace, and honestly, I think there’s something really freeing about that.

“No” is a complete sentence. My daughter taught me this and she’s correct! ✅

The biggest lesson I learned was that people will give you advice that they would never follow themselves.

My rule in retirement is &quot;Do whatever you want when you want&quot;. &nbsp;Retired at 58. If I say &quot;NO&quot; to somebody and they keep pressing, I respond with &quot; What don&apos;t you understand the N or the O ?&quot; &nbsp;<br>What I did several years before retiring I changed the answer to the question &quot; What do you do?&quot; from my job to my hobbies and interest. Hobbies and interest define who you are, your job does not. This really helped disconnect from my employment.

52 here. &nbsp;Just yesterday I made the decision to retire end of 2027. &nbsp;I feel like a massive weight has been lifted. &nbsp;I’ve been ready to check out for a long time.
