Retired or still working, what would YOU happily say “good riddance” to?

I am 3 months retired at age 57 - worked 35 years in pharmacy. Retirement for me fits like a glove - it's an introvert's dream. I fill in a few days a month at a wonderful independent pharmacy just to stay current. You're so right - my identity is not all in my work. I can now be myself with no expectations or excuses. There is no wasted day, even if i decide to do nothing. High blood pressure, stress, etc are gone. I don't miss any of the grind of the full time job. No meetings, no reviews, etc etc etc. The Sunday night dread is gone. You'll understand this - in health care we took care of everyone but ourselves. Now it's my time to recover my soul. I'm learning to be in the moment. What I worked for all my life is now here. I am so blessed.

I retired in March at 48. Work was not my identity and I don’t even want to be needed. I enjoy living life at my own pace.

Best feeling in the world was getting that Sunday panic feeling in the weeks after retiring and then realizing I don’t have to worry about it anymore! It happened a half dozen times.

What was worse than Sunday scary, was the scary as your vacation days were ending and you had to go back to work.....

So well said! Great points. Retired almost 4 weeks now and what I LOVE is not rushing all the time. It's been such a blessing to have more physical, spiritual, and mental margin for life and relationships.

I’m watching this on a Sunday afternoon and absolutely, I will not miss the Sunday night scaries. I’ve got one year and three months left until I retire. Everything in this video resonated with me and I cannot wait.

I retired at 58, none too soon, as my mental and physical health were being destroyed by being a worker.

I don't want to be needed by anybody for anything. I do like being wanted (for companionship, insight, etc)

Most retirement YT commentaries are presented by men; it's refreshing to listen as from the perspective of a professional lady.<br>I'm age 58 and retired 4 months now. My "good riddance" is having to answer to an inept boss. Look, I don't want to come across as an arrogant know-it-all. But having to downplay my knowledge and skills in order not to have my superior look stupid in front of others was a corporate BS game that they can shove up their private place. I now live my own life under my own terms & rules. I don't have an idiot micro-managing and taking credit for my output. Having that freedom to perform & produce for the ones who really deserve my efforts (my family) as a direct consequence of my actions...is most satisfying. At the job, an employee is ultimately just a number on the assembly line. At home, true value reciprocates.

I am a retired cop who retired from an upper level management position and totally related to everything you are saying. And I really dont miss any of it, except for a few friends who I have remained in contact with because I truly considered them a friend. I don't miss the "emergency" notifications from a subordinate that would wake me at 2 am, I don't miss the office politics, I don't miss the Sunday scaries, I don't miss all the physical meetings that could have been phone calls, emails, or conducted via zoom instead of having to drive from another part of the state to attend every week. I could go on and on, but your video already does a great job. I retired in 2019 at the age of 49 and have no regrets. The past 7 years have been the best of my life.
