I have a 250 year old Essex barn and all the elm timbers are destroyed by beetle and the oak is unaffected

Particularly in Somerset, elm was a very popular choice. Somerset had many thousands of these trees lining lanes everywhere. Then came Dutch elm disease after the war.

Absolutely beautiful! I wish there was an update on the finished home, especially the kitchen in the Extension! If anyone knows of an update, please share? 💕😊

Don't real estate agents in the UK have to have a full inspection done on property to gauge the condition of foundation and timbers? I see a lot of people getting into a purchase without knowing what they are buying! It's hilarious how first time home builders think if they lay off a crew of builders they can just call them back after a week if they find more cash! That's not how it works and a project will lose all momentum that it was building up in those final days but they should have just sold something to get the money! This is childish!

Fantastic building and the fact that it's built from Elm is very unusual. Knowing that it's made of Elm why does it look like the restoration patchwork are being replaced with Oak 👀🫣😳
