I lived at Fundenhall, very close, also bought, an old Norfolk farm house. We had structural concrete on the walls, went thru very similar issues. House not so bad as we could actually live in it as we did the work. The first thing we did was replace the roof, not realising how bad the damage in the walls was. A couple of years later we were doing the second stage of renovation, we removed some interior plaster, and one of the “posts” ran onto the floor as saw dust

I would really like to know if Polly managed to rebuild this house. If anyone knows the fate of this house, please let us know! Polly really loved this structure. My heart bleeds for her.

If this is listed how could the people before put up pebble concrete over the old house doesn’t make sense

Unfortunately, the owners had severe financial hardship as a result of trying to bring back the Old Manor and, ultimately, had to back out. It remains in limbo - perhaps left open to the elements, vandalism and vagrants. We simply do not know. The Village of Saham Toney in Norfolk does not have a completion or occupancy certificate available, but the home was their official registered home and business address. There are no post 2014 photos of the interior or exterior and Maps cannot show anything. Either they wish to keep everything out of the news or they simply ran out of funding. Major restorative work on grade-listed properties in the UK and Ireland frequently experience ballooning budgets as the scope of things mushrooms. It is the nature of the beast that, as construction progresses, more damage comes to light. We've seen this in other homes in the series and experienced it in real life as we do our own home renovations, additions and alterations. The more I watched of this particular restoration, the more concerned I became. Covering the exterior with Portland-Cement based pebble-dash was one of the worst possible things you could do to a home. If the cladding and render cannot breathe, you get moisture, insects and fungal damage. Ultimately, it would appear that the scope of work and structural repairs quite outpaced their finances. Lending institutions might be quite chary of funding further renovations or any other owner's attempt at restoration without high initial equity. If anyone else has better data than I've been able to locate, please post it here. I really would like to see a good outcome here, because homes like this should be preserved and restored whenever possible. Grade I and Grade II properties are national treasures.
