  I thought the movie to be horrible. I am a big fan of the games and with about 20 minutes of runtime I had already given up for it to be in any way connect and the movie is still a pain to watch.

  Everyone in the movie especially the main character was so insanely stupid, this is the worst movie I’ve ever seen, I was so irritated watching this bs, I don’t remember hating a movie so much in my life omfg. Every time the main character was in danger he would pause for a long time (I guess for dramatic effect?), he was always loud af too, so I was always talking to my screen being like “dude stfu”, when he saw that little girl with the infected foot in the RV he should’ve shot her, actually he shouldn’t have even opened that bathroom door in the first freakin place so I’m glad she bit him, and he died because of it also the comedy in this movie was trash as well. What was the point of the storyline with his pregnant girlfriend ?they did nothing with that storyline. The d-riding that ppl are doing for this dumpster of a movie is insane I’m so confused on why ppl are lying, and the acting in this movie was not good too.

  Am I alone here, or is the scene with the scientists at the end one of the worst in the entire history of films? I'm not exaggerating in the least, BTW. You really have to see it to believe it.

  I just hate that they slapped the title of Resident Evil on a movie with almost nothing to do with the games and with a completely different tone.

  That&apos;s what I was afraid of. That this film would do harm to the franchise.<br>The co-writer Shay Hatten even admitted that they added a bunch of references to the games in post production.<br>People watch this film who say like you do &quot;I don&apos;t want to play the games if that&apos;s RE&quot; won&apos;t take a look at it. Those that like it and then play the games might be discouraged when they find out that it&apos;s nothing like the film.<br>I think none of the previous films could do more damage than Cregger&apos;s film.

  As a fan of the series I did not like this film at all. The comedy portions verged on parody and yet I still found the film hilarious for all the wrong reasons. This felt less like an adaptation of RE and more like someone’s original concept paying homage to their influences, or more like Sony handed Cregger cliff notes for everything to reference. The protagonist is bafflingly stupid, to the point of literally staring at two mutating corpses just for the sake of tension. There were plenty of moments like that from start to finish that take you out of the experience. They also not so subtly ripped off the Rat King from TLOU, just something else to make it feel even less like RE. Just terrible adaptation and terrible movie all around. I wouldn’t recommend it for anyone unless you love bad movies to get a good laugh out of.

  It is more of a homage to Carpenters&apos; The Thing. I thought the cinematography in the first 40 minutes was fantastic, but as soon as we meet Paul Walter Hauser in the car the movie just seems to veer off a cliff. He just took me completely out of the movie, I felt like I was watching a comedy skit of the movie and I never really recovered my investment in the movie. <br>It left me feeling like the movie was embarrassed to be a truly serious scary movie that it had to keep dropping the quips to remind it&apos;s audience I wasn&apos;t really trying to be serious? While the comedy did a good job of working against the tension at the start of the movie, as we moved through the film instead of ramping up the tension and dropping the comedy, we ramped up the comedy and dropped the tension and I ended up not caring what happens. <br> <br>I did come out the movie thinking I&apos;d really like to see Zach Cregger do Evil Dead though.

  This movie basically said &quot;resident evil is when mutating tentacular monsters&quot; and made random non-sensical mutating monsters. It&apos;s resident evil is just a label on this movie, nothing more, they didn&apos;t even try except to use the name, it&apos;s like they put those names in post productions.<br><br>THERE&apos;S NOT EVEN AN UMBRELLA LOGO IN THE WHOLE MOVIE, EVEN IN THE UMBRELLA LABS.<br><br>The first part is pretty cool, you still can pass it as RE and the atmosphere is cool, after that when they get in the car to the city the movie turns to literal shit, it&apos;s like it was made with AI or written by a 10 years old, that&apos;s how good the plot points are.<br><br>It&apos;s like being given a decent meal at a restaurant, then comes the waiter, shits in your plate, and says &quot;here&apos;s the second course&quot;.<br><br>I can&apos;t figure myself on how ppl are saying this is a good movie, and I&apos;m the warm guy on movie scores usually, this isn&apos;t more than a 4/10

  Wow an ACTUAL honest review. And thanks for saying you werent an RE fan to give some disclosure. UNlike those claiming to be &quot;fans&quot; and before the movie came out were calling this a 10/10 for liking the trailer, saying its the most Resident Evil thing they ever saw and so faithful(when it actually is not) but we were told not to judge &nbsp;because we cant judge a movie off its trailer... funny how that works. <br><br>Anywho, US ACTUAL FANS making criticism on the movie were simply based on the premise of the movie and what Cregger said in different interviews and commentaries leading up to the premiere. There is NO Resident Evil in this Resident Evil movie. Those same people using the &quot;Its 1to1 with the gameplay mechanics and experience&quot; are the same people who said thats all we wanted. Horshet! We wanted 1to1 of the lore, not gameplay mechanics. To tell the story in a cinematic display that would feel grand with its horror and the conspiracy around Umbrella and the victims. But Every director keeps saying the same thing and the sheep follow their every word by parroting their words &quot;It cant be. If you want 1to1 just play the games. No one wants a faithful adaption. Im doing my own story and its better for it.&quot;. Absolute BS!<br><br> The people saying there&apos;s comedy in RE games are talking about RE1 and CV mostly, but even then its not that its comedy in CV but that they overly done the old school mustache twirling villain trope and some cheesy dialogue but you dont get that in RE2 and 3, And in RE4 its just Leon one liners that come off as &quot;comedy&quot; but its actually hes being playful with female characters or being sarcastic to the villains. RE5 there is no comedy at all. What people called comedy in RE5 was Chris punching a boulder to save his partner but technically he did more pushing than punching but its still a running gag in the RE community but the intention wasnt to be comedy in the game&apos;s setting leading up to it.<br><br> What ties the lore and mythos is not just these characters like Jill, Chris, Leon, Claire, Rebecca, Barry but also other survivors that were written as side stories during the events of Raccoon City or one off games like Survivor with its character Ark Thompson who was on Sheena Island where the Tyrant program is mass produced and then used on Racoon City during RE2 and 3 &nbsp;as well as Outbreak File 1n2. All Cregger did is he did what all the other directors did.... which is borrowed elements from the games like &quot;RAccoon City&quot;, and &quot;Umbrella&quot;, but the creatures are not zombies like in the games. In fact he stated he wasnt doing zombies and focused on the word &quot;monster&quot; or &quot;creature&quot; because he felt that is more scarier, but even then he used none of the BOW&apos;s from the games. He stated his inspirations came from other books and movies and nothing from Resident Evil. So its a Resident Evil movie not inspired by Resident Evil. Its Reference Evil. Or Recall Evil. He referenced shot guns and ammo in drawers ..&quot;Hey DO you REcall doing that in the games?&quot;... Theres herbs and a typewriter...&quot;Look! REcall seeing those herbs and that there typewriter?&quot; but nothing that is from the lore that is fleshed out. Its a new story. And if Cregger was smart he would have been better off not even mentioning Raccoon city or Umbrella but its too late for that and here we are. And the leaked script just proved majority of it is true.

  Don&apos;t worry man, this movie has fuck all to do with the games. The original games are kind of cheesy due to bad voice acting and dialogue, but no intentional comedy. The more modern ones have a few one liners, but they aren&apos;t a &quot;comedy&quot;. Resident Evil 5 got a bit silly with Chris punching boulders, but it still wasn&apos;t meant as a comedy.

  Another RE games fan commenter here. Don&apos;t take this movie as a representation of what the games are like, they are so different tonally you might as well get whiplash when comparing the two. The games take themselves seriously and have a lot of lore to them that builds up in the form of scattered documents you find around levels. You find notes of scientists talking about how they experimented on people and how the zombie virus works - it&apos;s really cool.<br><br>It&apos;s weird to me that there are people who claim to be RE fans and say the movie is very accurate to the games. The only similarities are in how the movie is structured similarly to the video games - how the protag inventories ammo, finds better guns over the course of the movie, etc. There are some easter eggs here and there also that you&apos;ll recognize if you&apos;ve played the games, but that&apos;s it. The setting&apos;s technically the same as Resident Evil 2 but that&apos;s where the similarities end. <br><br>The zombies in the movie are not at all like in the games, which really turned me off personally. I didn&apos;t recognize a single one from the games - even the regular zombies move like fast zombies, which is not lore accurate. They behave a lot like the creature from the movie &apos;The Thing&apos; than anything else. This movie is a poorly-written fanfiction imo.
