My wife and I moved from Newbury in Berkshire to Argyll (via Inverness !!) in 2017. Best thing we ever did. People are lovely, the weather is just as you'd expect it to be.
We have space, freedom, and are very very happy.
The Scottish people are wonderful so long as you dont act like arrogant ignorant twats.
I think that's the best advice.

I'm a Scot living in the south of England and you just made me seriously homesick 😂. I love the north of Scotland, serene, beautiful and unhurried, gorgeous. Hope you have many happy years up there 😊

Your comment about nor having access to the house after exchanging missive. I think the owner may not be obliged to give you access, but i don’t recall having any such difficulty. Indeed, we moved back from Denmark, bought a three room house (in 2003) while we looked for a more substantial house and then six months later bought a larger house. In both cases the previous owners were happy to answer our questions. Indeed both bought locally and continued to answer question after we moved in.

Moved to Scotland from Teesside 8 years ago and never looked back. It helps if you have practical skills and can fix things yourself because 'Tradies" are often too far away to help. Love the peace and looking after the land i have. I don't mind the winters because i like to be inside and warm when it's blowing a gale outside, I've also seen swallows flying in the snow in May!!!

Used to live in north west highlands, nearest supermarket was 76 miles away in Dingwall.
You PLAN your life and you PLAN your days/ weeks etc.
As for your well , we also have one we always keep a spare pump and have a 10,000 litre storage tank. .
Sceptic tank, don’t throw wet wipes down it and you’ll never have to empty it , throw a sceptic tank T-bag down the toilet 3 or 4 times a year and let nature do the rest.

Moved to Aberdeenshire from Birmingham 20 years ago, our only regret - not doing it sooner ! Very informative video, thanks.

Within the first few moments of watching this video, I felt as if the information you gave was a breath of fresh air. This type of move is something we are planning, and you have given us touchpoints and clarified things that we had wondered about. None of your content deterred us and I think that is a positive thing. Many thanks !

Northern Scotland is crammed full of retirees, second home owners and folks with fat wallets trying to escape the “rat race”. What makes it special is slowly being eroded to the point that I don’t recognise the communities I was brought up in. Young folks brought up here have less and less opportunity of employment never mind renting or having a home of their own. Painting a picture of an idyllic life because you have the means to achieve it only makes a fragile situation even worse.

I’ve been up here 20+ years, from Yorkshire. I love Scotland, especially the scenery. I will never go back down south.
