  I’m a gay man and my husband and I have done what you have done. We lived in East Sussex and we scanned Rightmove, and Zoopla for houses. We looked at Wales,and Scotland,but ultimately moved to Donegal in Ireland. Our experience mirrors yours in many ways the cottage we ultimately bought is fairly isolated and involved us learning many new skills in building and carpentry etc. We also have found the locals very kind and welcoming.<br>I grow lots of vegetables. We have made so many friends and love our life here. I wish you every success, I’m sure you will find both peace and fulfilment.

  I’m an 88 year old American woman but I love every bit of your content. This was so much &nbsp;fun. I haven’t ever missed a video (and watched all the Stranded Dyeworks) but I went back and watched this again tonight. Knowing what you have accomplished since this was filmed and knowing about Sven and the chickens, and all your DIY successes made me so happy. And watching you put up the shower rod made me laugh out loud. I knew just how you felt. Your charisma is off the chart. Your parents would be so very proud of you.

  The part where you were talking about missing your parents brought me to tears. My deepest condolences for your loss. One of the things that strikes me most about your content is how much your love and respect for your parents imbues every chore that you perform in building this new life for yourself from the ashes of the old one. Phoenix seems an appropriate nickname for your cottage and land to me. Using all the tools and supplies that you inherited from your parents, sometimes seeming to be detritus like random screws and leftover paint giving new breath to your life.   I have no idea whether what you paid for your cottage was &apos;sensible&apos; in terms of the housing market there. But you bought a location that appealed to you, a house you could live in and saw potential in, some land and a dream of the lifestyle you wanted to live. That is beyond price.

  A quarter of a million for a house with almost no insulation? No, a quarter of a million for a large plot with huge potential. Oh, and we&apos;ll throw in this small liveable fixer upper for you. Sounds like the perfect deal to me! <br>You can always fix things up in a house, but the size, location and outlook of the land is pretty much set. I think you chose very well.
