How many other U.S. citizens here not one bit surprised about being on this list?

A quick comment, I think the quality of life in the US varies largely with what state you live in.

Thank you for reaffirming what I feel in the US. I was questioning my sanity. But, it's all truth.

In Italy you have to understand that we have the biggest immigration issues, as for the geographic positon we are the open door from Africa and 3rd world in general, so the restrictions in burocracy paperwork have sensible reasons, in order to make a filter. For expats can be easier to get a permit if they start an enterprise (as long as you can get the business paperwork easily done😊)

    Brava, Kristin.
You really knock it outta the park with this video on rating countries for expats. It's very well researched and honest, which unfortunately is not the norm on YouTube for this topic.

I retired to Siem Reap, Cambodia almost 11 months ago and my expat friends are from many of the countries you have talked about. It's amazing how much all of us have in common and how common all the things everyone is dealing with. Cambodia is usually not on the lists of countries to avoid but also often not on the lists of countries to move to. I love it here and what lists it's on or not on doesn't affect me at all. I hope everyone here finds the place that fits you.

As a Norwegian, I find it interesting how a lot of foreigners moving to a completely different country seem to expect it to be easy and there won't be any challenges or cultural differences. A lot of foreigners who visit Norway or move here are surprised by our reserved culture. I think it's fine to have your preferences and to want to move somewhere that is more similar in culture to where you're from, but I also think it's wrong to act like the culture you don't "click" with is wrong and people are rude because they're not how you expected them to be.

That's it for my soap box moment. I'm glad you enjoyed Norway, Kristin! You're always welcome to come back. We're having a mild December so far, at least here in southern Norway, so don't expect a white Christmas this year if you visit, but I bet in the north it'll be snowing plenty!

Germany here. The internet has improved dramatically over the years and is available everywhere. You can also pay electronically in every store with banccard, smartphone, PayPal etc. and of course cash. In supermarkets you can
use your card to receive cash which eliminates the need for ATMs and banks. Many stores now offer self checkouts, if you want to take your time.
Similar to the other countries, all the private online services are available. Over the years I've formed and closed companies without any hassle. The problem is with the language for most Americans, which makes it difficult to understand what is available.

I can vouch for Italia. Very few economic opportunities, few locals speak anything other than Italiano, and the bureaucracy is legendary. One of the quirks I learned is that you can pay all your bills at your local tabacchi store (utilities, parking tickets, sporting events, etc.). It's cigarettes and so much more. Italy is fabulous for a vacay, but living there is certainly challenging.
Ciao Ragazzi !!!

Don’t forget the U.S. has zero truth in media laws nationally so TV news spreads misinformation with blatant lies and they intentionally try to divide the American public in the two major political parties. This issue alone has caused more damage to the U.S. It’s ridiculous, money is driving the U.S. Time for change or else it will get worse!

We've spent the last year traveling to 15 different countries to experience new places and maybe find a place to live in the future. If you want to find out how bad the health care is in the US, just travel to other countries to see how good health care can work. We needed health care and dental in countries like Uruguay, Paraguay, Peru, and Spain and all of them offered health services that we're as good or better than the US at much better costs. Thanks for the video, keep up the great content!
