  San Francisco is a lot of things but affordable it’s not one of them especially for seniors. Whoever supplied that information about it being a great place for seniors is out of their mind.

  In most countries: you can be on your one block that is safe and only few blocks away can be a dangerous neighborhood. &nbsp;You have to know where you’re going.

  I lived most of my life in “mid-land” Michigan. &nbsp;It’s cloudy and either cooking hot or freezing. &nbsp;Roads are a pot-holed trip. &nbsp;Can’t believe anyone would want to retire there for the place itself.

  I’m a US citizen and I’ve been in Mexico City for almost 2 years. I travel frequently and I couldn’t imagine living in the US again. <br><br>Outside of Mexico City can be extremely dangerous and driving between cities is essentially looking for trouble. Staying within major cities is advisable. <br><br>However, the amount of random violence is very low. I’ve never seen a fight, shooting, or anything crazy. I used to live near Austin, Texas and you regularly see fighting at clubs and bars. <br><br>I’m looking at other options but I’m not going back to the US

  I am living in Thailand. This is the safest place I’ve ever been. I moved here from the San Francisco Bay Area.

  Lived in Thailand, Colombia, &nbsp;Mexico, &nbsp;now in Ecuador. &nbsp;no safety concerns before midnight.

  Thoughtful list! &nbsp;Ecuador broke my heart when it started to turn a few years ago. Manta was the top of my retirement goals. 💙🤟😎
