  5.56 and 5.45 rounds were designed for use against regular enemy soldiers, who after being wounded would usually stop fighting and seek medical attention. Smaller, lighter rounds had a greater chance of hitting a target if fired repeatedly from a rapid fire weapon and the assumption was that  just one hit could incapacitate a target.  If a guy gets wounded this might also require other personnel to drag his ass out of there removing them from the fight as well. This doesn't work against fanatics who keep fighting either because of their fanaticism or because they know that they'll probably die anyway at that point.

  The same thing happened in Somalia using the green-tipped 62-grain 5.56×45mm in the M-16A2 and M-16A4 with 20-inch barrels. It just penciled the skinny's. Chest shots might knock them down sometimes, but many times they'd just get right back up, start shooting, or run off wounded. Old man Kalashnikov was right! If your enemy is still armed and alive, he can just as easily kill you. Theoretical concepts are just that: theoretical McNamara's bean counters. I talked to Vietnam vets who told me they almost always had plenty of ammo too much, in fact- that they had to shoot it all up before they got choppered out of an LZ, or it would be utilized by the enemy's M-16s, which, strangely enough, they always seemed to have plenty of, and they almost always had far more combat experience than the average American infantryman 6 months in country.

  My personal favorite round from ak is the 8m3 bullet. In 762x39. Obviously it could not be used in the military due to it being a hollowpoint. As the 1899 hauge convention doesnt allow it. Ive test real 8m3 and it is devastating. It fragments like crazy. Stuff is hard to find but it is out there. You have to make sure its real stuff. With the cerations on the jacket. Not like that stuff that says 8m3 effect. Or that tula ammo that came in a little bit towards the end before the ban. I have a couple cases of the tula and only some of them are real 8m3. The others are regular hollowpoints without the cuts. I also have red army 8v3 which so far thats been the best 8m3 bullet ive tested.  They were made at vymple. That was newer. The other best is the old russian stuff marked 8m3. Not 8m3 effect. Just regular old 8m3. I believe they came in a white box with black lettering or a white box with blue lettering i have a couple ammo cans of the stuff and its great.

  I don’t see why they didn’t just modify the 7.62x39 bullet by moving its CG backward while maintaining the same mass. &nbsp;Shooters happy, those they wound just as miserable or even more miserable.<br><br>Warfare is ugly. &nbsp;Damn the politicians, the bastards who create it.
