  My father was a engineer aboard the Lexington when she went down in the Coral Sea. As soon as the destroyer that fished him out of sea docked at Pearl. Dad took a bus to a bar in Honolulu that did not restrict the number of beers as per US regulations. Het met a couple of Bull Halsey's staff there. And he told them of the air search problems and friendly fire hitting the Lexington. They set dad up with a meeting with Halsey. And Halsey put dad on his crew and placed him aboard the Enterprise as quality control for the Midway action.

  Little did Yamamoto know that he himself had less than year to live after Midway when his Betty was ambushed by P-38s and shot down over Bougainville in April 1943.

  When Winston Churchill learned about the attack on Pearl Harbor he said that America would turn the Japanese into dust, well he was kinda right because America dropped two atomic bombs on Japan to end the war.

  Exactly, the torpedo bombers Sacrifice was instrumental in the victory. That and a great deal of luck.

  I was just thinking if a modern American jet fighter pilot could suddenly be right behind a WILDCAT fighter and feel the wind blowing by, the old plane to him, &nbsp;attacking a Japanese Val dive bomber, the type that hit us at Pear Harbor. Can you just imagine &nbsp;feeling the plane turn with the guns shooting &nbsp;and seeing the sea below. &nbsp;We had such great BRAVE pilots as &nbsp;many ditched in the water and were not rescued.

  Rochefort and his team of codebreakers were huge . Read <br>AND I WAS THERE by Layton , Double Edged Secrets by Jasper Holmes , and Joe Rochefort&apos;s War by Carlson . <br>Those 3 books tell it all .<br>Rochefort was the most important intelligence officer involved . Unfortunately, he was screwed by idiots in DC post Midway .

  My uncle .. Ens. Irvin H. Mcpherson<br>Squadron 6 ... USS Enterprise <br>Torpedoe bomber .. One of the few Survivors &nbsp;... In Irv&apos;s diary .. said he was<br>800 feet from the Carrier when he dropped his Torpedo &nbsp;.. His Gunner said it was a direct Hit ... as he flew away ...<br>The Torpedo was a dud !
