  My father served in the Royal Engineers in WW2 as part of the 43rd Wessex Division, they came ashore and went straight into action on Hill 112, welcome to France!

  Montgomery said Paris would be reached in 90 days. He was wrong. In 90 days his British 2nd Army was 400km beyond Paris and liberating Brussels Belgium.

  I do not understand the Allied Armies never got a lot more film footage considering they knew this was history in the making, most of the film I have seen before its mostly Canadian and German film, why we didn&apos;t get more film from the UK and US just baffles me, unless it&apos;s to gruesome to watch.

  Montgomerys plan was always to draw German resources on to the British/Canadian sector around Caen. There was never any intention for a breakout in this sector, it was always planned for the US sector. The Battle Plans, as explained by Montgomery at St Paul&apos;s school are available. Sloppy research features in this video!
