  I’m from Thurnscoe, half way between Barnsley and Doncaster. My Mum and Dad had a fish and chip shop. MY Mums batter was to die for. 😂I’ve lived in Australia for over 60 years now. NOBODY, NOBODY, makes fish and chips like Yorkshire. Boy, am I looking forward to making this batter. GO RIK

  I traveled to England several years ago on vacation and the best food I ate there was the Fish and Chips!

  It's not yet seven in the morn here and I'm sitting near drooling. Those chips look just like my mum used to make, nice and golden and never peely wally. 😀

  I'm in Australia. Years ago, my local Greek fish n chip man used to do the whole chip thing from hessian bag spuds to finished beautiful chips. Nowadays my Chinese fish n chip guy gets in frozen pre-prepared chips. They come out yellow. I believe it's the dextrose they soak them in. Still enjoyable but not as nice as Chris's self made chips. I think proper chips are mankind's greatest food.

  Hi Rik, fish&apos;n&apos;chips are a memory food. Sight, smell and your a kid again. Friday treat,local chippy, and trying to get a few chips out of the paper on the way home. Pickled onions or a wally, Scraps. Liplickin&apos;. I would never have thought to miss out the flour dredge before dipping in the batter, but as you say : &quot; each to their own&quot;. Fabulous food, and proud to be British. Cheers Allan&amp;Family
