  Does the excellent Star Trek The Next Generation episode “Tin Man” deserve an honorable mention here? That episode was so compelling that I still remember the telepath’s name (Tam Elbron) who communicated with the living ship, Tin Man, whose crew had accidentally died. The ship felt so sad and lonely and possibly guilty that he was trying to commit suicide by sitting next to a star that was about to go supernova. What an amazing and beautiful and unusual story, with a happy ending too. This is what sci-fi is for!

  Moontrap may have gotten inspiration from an Apollo moon mission astronaut, who said he had a dream about finding on the Moon the corpse of an ancient astronaut, dated to 14,000 years ago.

  Planet of the Vampires (aka The Demon Planet ) is the best .Sullivan and his crew mate take a risky trip into a mist shrouded valley and find that huge alien shipthats been there for eon of years. The remains of the crew were 5 times larger the humans. and the captain in his seat at a recording device ,making the last entry before death spookier than all get out.

  The electrical power in science ship in VIRUS was shut off when the tug crew arrived. The tug crew turned the power back on and in doing so re-activated the alien life form.<br>Do you watch the movies you talk about?

  People always talk crap about prequels, like Prometheus showing the ship found in Alien, or The Thing remake showing the other station finding The Thing that causes what the people in the original The Thing movie found the aftermath of. I personally like it when someone makes a prequel using details from one movie to reverse-engineer the events in a new movie. They have to take another artist&apos;s art and deconstruct its parts to create a precursor art piece that is perfectly accurate so all the details will match. I always loved that as an art concept, as long as you don&apos;t use the shittiest actors ever (cough-TronAres-cough) make all the sequels and prequels and spin offs and remakes (just don&apos;t phone it in) you want, you&apos;re supposed to build the world, that was how writing used to work.<br><br>I think people get pissy because &quot;you took the mystery away&quot;, those people probably also think the earth is flat and the moon is a hollow spaceship, they hate knowing the truth behind details because it &quot;ruins it&quot;. To me that&apos;s called World Building, people used to write 10+ book series for that World Building and now people cry when you d it too much. God, the crying about Star Wars prequels never stops, only one generation is allowed their own star wars movies and this huge ass universe should only cover the stories of 5-7 people. There are dozens of novels fans uses to write and add in to canon just for world building, now everyone is allergic to detailed world building, &quot;waah waah, you&apos;re doing too much, you&apos;re changing my feelings about the fandom somehow, even though I can&apos;t say why because there&apos;s no reason except that I hate change and when people add more onto things I have to adjust to it.&quot; Type sht.
