Ellie's finding in Pi was a profound idea that belonged in the Contact movie. I thought the change from a party of 5 to a solo trip was another major betrayal of the book; it changed the whole dynamic of Ellie's experience which I don't see it as either an improvement or a reasonable production economy.

I've never understood the hate for The Postman, the film is a fantastic post apocalyptic western. It's actually one of the few times I feel the film out does the book, with Children of Men being another.

Always find the trope funny of studios want interesting scifi book plots. Only to strip out the interesting parts.

The Brando production of "Moreau" is an absolute guilty pleasure, a real howler (no pun internded). I bought and read the original Wells novel and I have to say it was one of the biggest let-downs ever.
