"You didn't brief them? They need to consent!" Not really how the military works.

Hicks was asleep, not passed out. It's supposed to show you that he's been on so many drops that it's boring for him.

Hicks was napping. He so used to the drops that it didn’t bother him.

@23:15 -- No, he DIDN'T pass out. That's the gag. He's so "cool" that he takes a nap while they're plunging into a war zone. That IS the joke.

Ripley and Hicks got married and raised Newt as their daughter and lived happily ever after. That’s my canon.

 Couple of things:

Michael Biehn, aka Hicks, aka Kyle Reese from Terminator, was actually a 'last minute replacement', as it was originally to be played by James Remar, but James got caught with drugs.

Paul Reiser, who plays Burke, brought his family to the premier and when his death scene came up, his mother cheered for it.

Also, there's a deleted scene, where Ripley inquires about her daughter, only to learn that she's died 2 years before Ellen was found at the age of 66. That'd be Amanda Ripley, who's also a protagonist of Alien Isolation game.

And of course...
"Queen Takes Bishop"

@46:58 The storytelling at the beginning shows that Ripley is haunted by nightmares over her experience, and knowing that there are more of them out there, she fears that she will never truly know peace until the aliens are wiped out. That's why the only question she asks is "You're going there to kill them, right?" It's the only thing she cares about. Kill the aliens, and end the nightmares.

Gorman is a great example of the archetype in military fiction of the "inexperienced Lieutenant". Because officers obtain their rank initially based on education, junior officers will enter their position with their immediate subordinates being far more experienced than they are. If they approach that situation with humility, they can be very effective commanders. If not, you get guys like Gorman.

Funny you said you wanted Vasquez in a movie w/ Arnie - she looked 100% different but the actress who played Vasquez also played John Connor's foster mom in T2. James Cameron keeps people working.

1:05:00 The bit where Newt falls down the air shaft was so fun that Carrie Henn who played Newt kept deliberately flubbing takes so she could go down the slide again. Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeee
