Gene Hackman's line "I was going to make espresso" was ad-libbed and sent the crew into fits of laughter, thus the quick fade out. They tried to get another take with the line, but Hackman couldn't do it again without laughing. Hackman heard about the film from Gene Wilder and asked for a bit part, just to be in a comedy. He received no pay and wasn't in the credits for the theatrical release. He was obviously added later.

12:14 Fun fact about the Frau Bluher thing with the horses. That is a triple inside joke. When this movie came out, there was a rumor that her name means 'glue' in German, which is why the horses freaked out from her name, it does not. A while later a second rumor spread that no, her name doesn't mean glue, but it is the name of an old German glue company. That, is also not true. Here's the thing, Mel Brooks and Gene Wilder spread both rumors. They wanted to see how far it would go and considering to this day people still tell both rumors, it went pretty far. As for the ACTUAL purpose of the gag, Brooks said in an interview that it was really just to illustrate that she was mysterious and scary, there was no deeper meaning.

    "He vas my BOYFRIEND!"
Not only did they include that in the musical, they gave Frau Blucher (*neigh*) an entire song called "He Vas My Boyfriend". I saw it a couple of years ago with Sally Struthers as Frau Blucher.

I was at a club one night back in the 80s, and the DJ played "Puttin' on the Ritz", the version by Taco that was popular at the time. And every time the song title came up, everyone in the club screamed it at the top of their lungs just like Peter Boyle. Needless to say, the DJ didn't give that one any repeat play.

It is always surprising no one ever comments on Inspector Kemp wearing the monocle over the eye patch. One of my favorite gags in the movie.

There are much improvisation in the movie: The switching of the hump, the blind man saying, "I was going to make espresso," the monster trying to catch imaginary butterflies.

32:34 - "Is that a zipper on his neck?" Yes. Mel Brooks has said in interviews that when he saw the original 1931 "Frankenstein" as a five year old kid, he had nightmares for weeks afterwards and would wake up screaming, "The bolts! The bolts!" referring to the electrical contacts in the sides of Boris Karloff's character's neck. So when they were making this homage, he decided that this Creature should have a nice friendly zipper, instead.

My Dad always had a bit of a thing for Teri Garr.
After seeing her say "sank you Doktor" after the Igor uses the door knockers, I began to share his opinion.

I just kind of love that there's so many different performances in this movie and everybody's still points out that igor was such an amazing thing and kind of steals a little bit
