  One of the best Sci-fi Action movies ever made!<br>RIP, Bill Paxton, Hudson <br>RIP, Al Matthews, Apone<br>RIP, Tip Tipping, Crowe <br>RIP, James Horner, Composer <br>RIP, Adrian Biddle, Cinematography <br>RIP, Ray Lovejoy, Film Editor <br>RIP, Peter Lamont, Production Design <br>RIP, Stan Winston, Visual Effects.<br>They made this a badass movie to watch from start to finish.

  You&apos;re right about Burke - the special edition makes it clearer that the colonists were ordered to investigate the alien ship that they had no idea was there previously. &nbsp;<br>Allegedly, the actor who played Burke saw the film with his parents, and they cheered when his character got killed!

  &quot;Asses &amp; Elbows!&quot;<br>That&apos;s military slang for getting down to work. It comes from what you see if a bunch of people are scrubbing floors or doing other heavy labor with their hands while bent over.

  This movie can be described as two grieving mothers fighting for custody of a little girl. The special edition has a scene where Burke gives Ripley an update on her daughter who died an old woman while Ripley was away. She was Newt’s age when Ripley last saw her. It helps strengthen her motivation to protect Newt.

  The reason it took six years for 20th Century Fox to produce a sequel to Alien was because Ridley Scott had no interest in doing a sequel and a screenplay for a sequel took years of rewrites. James Cameron was originally hired only to write the screenplay, having previously co-written the screenplay for Rambo: First Blood Part II, but Cameron also wanted to direct Aliens as well. The studio was reluctant to let Cameron direct the film, but after seeing Cameron&apos;s previous film, The Terminator, in 1984, they decided to give him the job.

  One thing you have to understand about Hudson, he was what they call a short timer. &nbsp;He was getting out of the Marines in two weeks. &nbsp;Among many military people the time just before you redeploy from combat or just before you get out, or just before you change station is a very dangerous time. &nbsp;He was completely validated in his expectation and cynicism that of COURSE he is going to get killed, he is short. &nbsp;Yeah he complained about it and joked, but he is under incredible stress and humor is how he deals with it, but when things start going wrong he feels like he is being proven right and complains about it.

  Fact for you. The actor playing the Sargent with his Cigars was an actual Sargent. He actually help train the actors so they would look and feel like an actual military unit. He made them eat sleep and live like a military unit. So they only followed his orders on set.

  I think it is interesting that many younger women don&apos;t realize that when Ripley drives the loader and they chuckle that they are not laughing at her, it was a &quot;she&apos;s an awesome, badass lady with total respect&quot; chuckle &nbsp;I am 65 and saw this in the theatre. I don&apos;t think anyone then had trouble interpreting that line so I wonder if it&apos;s just not a change in how we communicate. I&apos;ve seen the same thing from other female reactors, but it was a complement.
