I'll never get tired of the endless variation in the way that people's brains short-circuit when they see The Thing for the first time. Such a masterpiece.

I watched this with some friends during a snowstorm on a VHS tape as soon as it came out on video. Whenever someone left the room, upon returning they would be greeted with- “Where were you?”

27:46, Blair's doing this to make sure that no one gets out of here as he knows one or possibly all of them are infected and can't let them escape to the outside world.

LOL one of my favourites, and always love the same reactions:
Beginning: "Why are they trying to kill the dog?"
30 minutes later: "KILL THE DOG!!!"
😂

For all the people who are Norwegian or speak Norwegian. You basically get very early spoilers.

You will never go wrong with a John Carpenter film. "Halloween", "The Fog", "Escape from New York", "Big Trouble In Little China", "Prince of Darkness", "They Live", and/or "In the Mouth of Madness"... masterpieces, every one. Cheers!

"Grandpa" Blair (Wilford Brimley) was actually only 47 when he filmed this. I have always thought of him as an old grandpa too.
