  All of us were taught about movement, footwork, and of course, keeping your head still on contact, but after watching Federer, I came up with a mental trick. &nbsp;I think of the ball as my dancing partner, not something my opponent is trying to beat me with, and as such I need to be prepared to meet my partner the minute she leaves the opponent racquet, so that we can execute the dance move, whatever that maybe, to send her back to the other side, with finesse, calm, not violently and in a hurry.<br><br>Then the whole match becomes a dance performance, and I don&apos;t care about my opponent. &nbsp;And I am always in a relaxed but focused state. &nbsp;It also suits my personality better because I am not an ultra competitive person. &nbsp;I play tennis because I love to play and execute as well as I can. &nbsp;I look at tennis like a musical/dance performance, not like a war between two players.

  The same thing of watching the ball applies to the serve as well and keeping the arm witch you throw the ball with pointed at the ball until you hit it, makes a huge difference between a good and consistent serve versus a bad one

  I use the bounce-hit technique. &nbsp;Your opponent hits the ball and you have to say BOUNCE, the split second that it bounces on your side. Then you say HIT exactly when you hit the ball.
