This is ironic since the whole story of how Jack gets the Pearl and is a pirate is because he gave slaves freedom. He ran away from pirating, but then once he realised how unjust and robotic life was and is, and got branded as a pirate, he realised that he could have the adventure he seeked.

The P.O.T.C trilogy was truly magical with each and every character having their own personal arc to their story and the transformation of Will and Elizabeth’s character to becoming pirates and Jack truly being a compass for his crew and for Will and Elizabeth.

It’s weird to hear people talk about PotC as an “old” movie. 🤔😄

I once heard somebody say that Jacks essentially a trickster god character. Embodyment of mischevious chaos, who comes in and stirs up the may be prince (Will), calling him to adventure, to discover himself and save the princess (Elizabeth) from the Tyrant God or evil king (Barbossa).
Its mythical.

The entire Will-Abeth saga is actually the journey of that sword, and how its destiny was always to set Will free. It was the last sword he ever made. He was the first AND last person to hold it. It stabbed Davy Jones in the chest TWICE. It's the theme we follow through all 3 films as it changes hands, not unlike harry' Potter's elder wand: from its creator, to the one it was made for, to the one who 'won' it fair and square, and right back to its creator again. The sword is the real main characters of that story, everyone else is just living around it.

I watched this movie a hundred times and I thought I knew why I liked to rewatch it, but this video just exposed the depth of all there is to it that I never understood.

Truly underrated imo with only 30k views, I think every fan would love to know it exists. Hence the tip.

Keep up the good word, "mate" !

one of my absolute favorite lines is Jack saying "not all treasure is silver and gold" which is an absolute truth: what makes something valuable is based completely on how much intrinsic value has been placed on it. Freedom can be treasure. Love can be treasure. Life can be treasure. if something or someone is precious to you, they become treasure. for example, if you change your perspective of a pile of gold you'll realize that all that "treasure" is simply a pile of rocks. no real value than one found at the bottom of the ocean. everything has intrinsic value but YOU choose what has real value in the world.

I just rewatched Pirates of the Caribbean after a long time, and here I am, YouTube suggested me this video. I’m not sure whether my comment is relevant to the context of the video, but the funny thing is that I had already given this some deep thought (before watching this video) and realized the same that these movies are not just about piracy, but about freedom.

Many of the characters in these films were inspired by real figures. For example, in the Brethren Court of the Nine Pirate Lords, there was an Indian pirate named Sri Sumbhajee, whose real-life counterpart is often associated with Sambhaji Angria. His father, Kanhoji Angria, was a naval admiral. From the British, EIC, and Portuguese perspectives, they were labeled as pirates, but from the local perspective, they are still celebrated as freedom fighters.

A similar story can be seen with the Turkish admiral Hayreddin Pasha, also known as Barbarossa (Italian for “Redbeard”). Overall, the movie is beautifully crafted—kudos to the writers.
