  I think something people don't acknowledge and only talk about the deleted scenes is that everything people talk about the deleted scenes, Jack had already been shown to experience. Remember, it was his willingness to trust and believe in friends that got him marooned and betrayed by Barbossa. And now, by Elizabeth. Every time he acts as the good man, he is betrayed. But at the end of the day, he still decides and CHOOSES to be a good man, because he is a good man.

  The irony of freedom is that the more you chase it, the more it traps you. <br><br>The freest among us often dedicate themselves to service. Our greatest freedom, love, presupposes service.<br><br>Freedom is not a lack of a master, but a choice of worthy masters, and the wisdom to make it.

  The most wild thing about this undercurrent is that Jack was condemned to a life of piracy BECAUSE he chose an obligation to morality - when he chose to free 100 slaves. It&apos;s up to him (and the audience) to decide whether that life is one of freedom or incarceration. I think this is the inner battle Jack constantly wrestles with. He does not WANT to be bound to make moral decisions because of what he fears it will cost him, but he can not help but choose to do what is right. Remember too, that when he found the Aztec gold, he told the crew to return it, leading to Barbossa and his crew to maroon him. He so desperately wants to be the bad guy but manages always to stumble into being the good guy every time. It&apos;s probably why he&apos;s always drunk - when he was marooned on that island, it was only the rum that could drown out the cost of his morality.<br><br>In summary: god damn these films were masterpieces.

  The irony of total freedom and no responsibilities is the curse of being stuck with zero obligations in life thus no reason too free yourself from anything

  Davy Jones is a prime example of a man blinded by love and utterly consumed by his inability to let go and experience the heartbreak of his dream falling in on itself.<br><br>Just as how Captain Jack Sparrow is a man blinded by his unending drive for freedom and consumed by his disdain for any and all authority. <br><br>Yet while Jones wallows in his self pity and never rises above his vices Jack understands that in order to give himself the chance in life he craves he needs to set aside his dreams and make hard often contrarian choices to his moral and mental centre. But he never ever abandons his ideals always allowing himself to hold onto a shred of his dream.

  I genuinely feel that Jack Sparrow is a grounded version of Luffy. They&apos;re both the lving emgbodiment of freedom in their respective series.

  When the compass points at Jack. It was because Norrington tells her to consider “How did will even end up on the Dutchman in the first place.” The compass basically revealed it was Jack’s fault.
