  The absolute GENIUS of the Denis Villeneuve adaptations (especially part 2) is that EVEN WHEN HE CHANGES THE CHANI CHARACTER TO BE THE OUTRIGHT CRITICAL POV THAT SPELLS OUT THE DANGER WARNING OF THE PAUL LEADING THE FREMAN INTO THE HOLY WAR... you as the audience member STILL cannot help but get swept up in the thrill and excitement of Paul&apos;s miraculous transition to becoming the perfect charismatic leader of this blatantly oppressed people by the cartoonishly evil Harkonnens and the empire. <br><br>The films act as an even more true mirror of our inner need as human beings to follow such inspiring leadership and strength. <br><br>Not only is Paul the leader we want to FOLLOW... be he also embodies the leader we want to BE.<br><br>The war council scene in particular is so masterfully done and powerful in the way that it makes you truly feel how much this hits us in our very DNA. No matter how blatant the warning being shown to us of the atrocities that will follow. Far beyond the subtlety of the book DUNE.<br><br>In my opinion DUNE is NOT actually a &quot;warning&quot; against charismatic leaders. But rather... a &quot;FAILED warning&quot; against charismatic leaders. <br><br>And THAT is the TRUE genius of DUNE. We cannot stop it because we cannot stop OUR VERY NATURE.

  I like how in Dune part one we see Paul watching a movie about the desert mouse. Then in Dune part two he pretends to not know what the mouse is called when he is choosing a name.

  Finally someone who did actual research, instead of repeating something tepid that&apos;s been already said. Dune, to me, became something of a Rorshach test that speaks more of it&apos;s critics than the critics say about the book.

  I don&apos;t remember the exact quote, but I remember seeing something where Herbert was asked about how realistic it was for someone to use the Voice to manipulate people. His response was that that power already existed. In a sense, people have used their words for all of human existence to manipulate others into doing just about anything you can imagine. The Bene Gesserit just have it down to a science.

  There is a point at which, in a crowd, a person can no longer move on their own, but they get pushed along by the force of the crowd. I thought Dune had a lot of that in it. &nbsp;There was a lot about the force of history and having to simply ride the wave of the direction of history and not being able to make an individual course correction. &nbsp;That was one of the things that gave the book the ominous tone.

  “The map is not the territory” also applies to teaching music lessons, sheet music is only ink on paper until you can meaningfully interpret it and bring music to life

  The movie &quot;Dogma&quot; had a scene that explains why it&apos;s a much better idea to live your life by ideas instead of beliefs...even when you have proof your beliefs are correct.<br>&quot;You can change an idea.
