I like you displaying the info instead of reading it aloud.

Soldiers love the protection. If it’s slow AF and is heavy and gets stuck, now you’re just a Bunker.

Canada 🇨🇦 Vet

Retiring Canadian military officers often seem to wind up in well paid executive positions at large American defence manufacturers.
It is a remarkable pattern.
Those companies must really admire our senior staff... for some reason... and they have open arms.

Procurement, at least in Canada has been a mysterious, invisible process for us uninformed civilians but I'm sure they are looking after... uh... our best interests.
After all, they decided we needed TAP-V and wasn't that a well thought out decision to approve a highly desirable piece of war kit.

You are correct that CDN special forces "know what they want"; but just because they want it does not mean it is the only option; the Navy likely "wants" seahawks but the CDN government should not buy them. This is something that we can and should build domestically. The US should not be rewarded with contracts at a time when they are acting in the way that they are.

Great video. Thanks for bringing this kind of independent content to YouTube.

Politics should not interfere with the purchase of military equipment EVER. The only factors should be suitability for purpose.

I like the new format very much. I would hope we cancel the JLTV and switch to the Senator

Having done some off-roading/4 wheeling as a hobby (in my misspent youth), and having followed the hobby for years, I would like to point out a few things about the comparisons :
1] A higher Horsepower does not necessarily mean a more powerful engine. Horsepower usually means how FAST a vehicle can go. In these vehicles, top speed isn't necessarily the most important factor. Though I will admit being able to maintain a safe highway speed is useful.
2] A higher torque peaking at a lower engine rpm, and being able to maintain at least 90% of its torque through its usable rpm range is more critical for these types of vehicles. It means they will be able to get out of deep mud, or climb that steep mountain incline, or push its way through deep snow. Being able to overcome these scenarios are more important than peak horsepower. This is the "Mobility" that is needed from these vehicles.
3] The Transmission and gearing ratios also play a critical role in these vehicles. Having a "Granny" low 1st gear means being able to use the engine's torque to move through difficult terrain. An engine with less horsepower, and less torque can still be effective if it is paired with a transmission that makes the most of the engine's available power. Both the Senator, and Gurkha that are based on the Ford F550 commercial trucks have a Low Range. This effectively doubles the number of available gear ratios, and allows vehicles to still crawl along at walking speed with the engine idling at Low/Granny 1st gear. I am not sure if any of the other vehicles mentioned in the review have a Low Range gearing in their transmissions. The JLTV A2 is stated to have only a 6 speed transmission, but I did not look for the gearing ratio for its 1st gear,
Sorry for the long rant. It was just bothering me that only horsepower figures were being given while the more important torque values were missing. And thanks to those that took the time to read this. Corrections are welcomed, as I am no expert in this field.

This Aussie thinks Rochelle absolutely deserve the contract. Don't tell Bendigo I said that!

If the JLTV hasn't been actually ordered, it's possible there could be a change.

But it is difficult to really consider competitors when we don't know the baseline requirements.

Their successful use in the Russo-Ukrainian War has significantly raised the profile of Roshel and their products, in a very positive manner, and this should give them the opportunity to compete for any new contract, or re-bid, in this area.

Great video as always.

The circumstances of this trade war are a golden opportunity for Canada finally to realign its economy and military away from being a highly vulnerable vassal state. Seizing the opportunity will likely involve great sacrifice and hardship over several years, but we have no other option but to stay the course. The United States are now intent on transforming Canada into a natural resource colony with no effective autonomy whatsoever -- whether as a "51st state" or not. Those who assume that this will end once the current administration is gone are very dangerously naive.
