I've been painting for 40 years. Since YouTube I've rarely found a painter who knows how to cut through tedious digressions and simply talk about what I want to hear. Elizabeth cuts to the chase and I find these videos very useful. Thank you for staying focussed.

I've been a professional illustrator for 57 years. I studied at PASA [Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts]. The early examples of muddy colors you showed remind me of a text from that time that demonstrated relational color. Its information taught me a lot about being mindful of adjacent color relationships.
I really appreciate your focus on value. I recently did a color painting using a technique that has worked for me on other projects. The image had several figures. My aim was to reduce the workload of value and color by splitting them into separate processes.
Sometimes I paint an entire painting entirely in a black and white, working light to dark, before adding any color. I save brightest highlights and deepest darks for the finish of the work after glazed color is added. Many of my early painted magazine illustration projects were entirely black and white.
I work in acrylics instead of oils, because of speed and health concerns.
Due to acrylic's fast drying time, I am able to quickly add several color glazes to the complete value study. Glazes are just watery transparent acrylic, no acrylic media. When the color temperatures and values are working well, I add glazes with more opacity for rich color, preserving the relative warmth or coolness as needed. For the finish I add highlights and deep darks mixed with correct temperature color to finish the work.
I've had to be very production oriented in my professional work… tight deadlines etc. Having a grayscale full value study as an under painting, lets me focus on color as a separate process. It's less complicated and easier. Using fast drying acrylic glazes goes pretty fast. Happy painting. Cheers!

I love it when during a tutorial, the artist says things like "I see a little pink in this area" (or whatever). I'll stop the video and try to see what they're pointing out to develop my observation skills. Thank you for this explanation.

I always light up when I see you have a new video. I discovered the importance of color temperature back in one of my college figure drawing classes back in '83. It has made a quantum difference in my work. I love how you broke down warm and cool light sources. You have a very inspiring manner. You really make me love being a artist.

Thank you for all of this teaching. I'm working my way through what's available here on YT and applyimg it to watercolor, graphinte, acrylics and now pastels. I am just now finding my footing, discovering what my true mode of expression might be.

Recently, I am enjoying working with watercolor washes with pastels and inks layered on top. I'm really enjoying exploring this approach. Your teaching has played a role in that.

For now, though, I am working on basics. Even drawing skills are a new territory for me. Although I don't work in oils (yet (ever?)), your teaching continues to be relevant.

I hope I used enough words to give your channel some well deserved warm fuzzies. As soon as I get my footing, I intend to follow up with some of your paid offerings.

Thank you for your instruction and the inspiration you give others.
