I LOVE the look on Mark's face when Jody is recounting the "lights" exchange - priceless!!

Our issue is leaving the refrigerator door open , taking drink container to counter, pouring drink, taking a drink, THEN putting drink away and closing the door 😮 I can hear my parents in my head and oh boy would there have been a ruckus!

One more thing, Mark. Carve out some space in the house for your wife to paint. You will not regret it. My wife paints, mostly oil paintings, and it puts a huge smile on her face when she’s doing what she loves. Consequently, it puts a huge smile on my face, to see her so happy. We converted our one stall attached garage into a studio for her. Which meant I got to build my large two stall garage to use as a space to do my woodworking hobbies. It’s a win for both of us! I adore my wife and I absolutely love that we did this. We retired last month and both spaces are getting lots of use….and, more importantly, she’s as happy as can be and that does wonders for our relationship! Cheers!

Long time viewer here. You know what I like about you guys? You don't color coat everything and make everything in your marriage seem great. You are both authentic. I can't stand the couples that seem like everything is perfect. It can't possibly be; life doesn't work that way. I know this hasn't been an easy year for you both losing your son. Also having three weddings in one year is a lot of stress. Keep up the important work you are doing on here.

I have to agree with Mark. I hate dark rooms. I wish I had skylights. Being on a fixed income, I keep the lights out and I can tell a difference in my mood. I am very unhappy trying to save money with the lights out. Have a blessed day everyone. Melissa Plessinger

Jodi, my deceased mother loved to paint. She had a smaller basement bedroom that she turned into her art studio. After she died her five children picked out the paintings that were their favorites. My eyes were finally opened to how talented mom really was in her painting. I love seeing her paintings on my walls and I am so proud of her for the talent she developed through the years. Keep developing your own talents.

You guys are working tooooo hard at formulaic living. As someone in the same age group with a husband in the same age group ( Husband stopped working in 2014, I am still the breadwinner , but working part time now)... We cherish our time together. And yes , there are little nitpicky habits that we each have , but you know what...? Life is precious and fallible. Give some grace, and choose joy.

I think the most important thing is having each others back, you need somebody who’ll be around when things go south.

My hubby and I were both widowed. We mention our former spouses nearly everyday. You can't pretend after 40 yrs of marriage that they never existed. We've been married 3 years and very quickly found a rhythm that works for us and we enjoy. We do not spend all day everyday together. But when dinner time rolls around we're both home for the evening together.😊
