7 anti-inflammatory foods:

1. Broccoli – Rich in sulforaphane, a powerful anti-inflammatory compound. Chop and let sit before cooking or microwave to preserve nutrients.

2. Extra Virgin Olive Oil – Contains polyphenols that reduce inflammation, comparable to ibuprofen. Choose high-quality, peppery ones.

3. Dark Chocolate (70%+) – High in polyphenols, supports gut health and reduces inflammation. Avoid brands with added oils or too much sugar.

4. Chia Seeds – Packed with omega-3s, fiber, and plant protein. Great for gut microbes and immune support.

5. Turmeric – Contains curcumin, which fights inflammation. Most effective when combined with black pepper and healthy fats.

6. Raspberries – Full of fiber and antioxidants. Frozen ones are convenient and just as powerful.

7. Fermented Red Cabbage (Kraut) – Supports gut health and reduces inflammation. Part of the powerful fermented food group.

I had hip pain in my 40’s. Now 69 I’m completely pain & medication free. I do a daily exercises routine plus 3 miles cross country, intermittent jogging with my dog. I’ve cut out 99% of foods with added sugar, trans fats and additives. I have 1 weekly bar of 90% cocoa chocolate, pour EV Olive oil over every meal, eat lots of organic fruit, veg, legumes, sauerkraut, oily fish, eggs, nuts, kefir and wholegrain bread, pasta & rice.. I’m fitter than ever with a stable cholesterol. Dt Rob Lustig, endocrinologist & Zoe have given me the best advice and zest for life ever. Thank you ❤

My grandmother is 87, and she’s battled chronic inflammation for decades. Doctors gave her pain medication, but it never solved the root cause. When we shifted her diet toward fresh, anti-inflammatory foods like tomatoes, garlic, and whole grains, it was like watching her come back to life. She says her mornings feel lighter, and she can enjoy sitting outside without constant aches. I’m so grateful for information like this that reminds us food truly is medicine.

This episode is a goldmine. Love how Tim and Federica make it clear that fighting inflammation isn’t about chasing the latest “superfood,” but about consistent, real foods backed by science. Definitely rethinking my grocery list after this! 👏👏

Instead of eating chocolate bars, even the 70% cocoa ones, which are expensive AND have lots of sugar unless you settle for artificial sweeteners among other chemicals, I buy the cocoa powder. Mix 5 grams in 250 grams of non fat Greek yogurt, 5 grams of chia seeds, flax seeds (both ground), 2 grams of nutritional yeast, 10 grams of walnuts, 10 grams of sunflower seeds and 10 grams pumpkin seeds (all raw) also add some thawed frozen blueberries, a cut up kiwi, or any fruit, and you got yourself a super food desert with immense flavor that hits more than 60% of daily vitamins, minerals, fibre, fat and protein, not to mention it's relatively pretty cheep. Enjoy!

Love your channel, BTW.

I absolutely loved the 80/20 rule mentioned at the end [54:34]. Pursuing health shouldn't be a punishment or demand 100% perfection. As long as we stay consistent, our resilient bodies know how to heal themselves. Thank you, Prof. Tim and Dr. Federica! 🌱❤

What I would add to this is that a lot of these food items and spices are high oxalates which can cause people kidney stones or issues for people with kidney stones. Always good to add dairy to whatever high oxalate food you’re eating so that the dairy attaches to the oxalates and carries them out instead of storing them in the kidneys, causing stones.

No mention of Oxalate in Whole food diet both fruits and vegetables.
