The bit about disrupted sleep and irritability - love, my husband thought he'd married a different woman at 51. Turns out I just hadn't slept since 1998. More couples need this conversation. ✈

Thank you for sharing your experience. Can you do a complete series on all the things a husband and wife should understand, ask, and do? My wife is 13 years older than I am and has been going through menopause. We had some issues with communication in the past, but we are on our way to a better place, and I'm trying to reconnect with her emotionally and physically as we work on our 24 year marriage. I have been researching how I can best do that. Again, thank you.

I’m a young married man, but I was just thinking about how little I know about menopause. We need more open conversations like this, and the earlier the better.

PS: to all men, if you don’t already know about the ovulation cycle, it’s SO valuable to know it and understand what your female partner is experiencing on an ongoing basis.

Having severe depression sometimes with this, problems with sex as she described, and health issues from this, then try to reach out to him for support and he responds with "I don't want to learn about it" is absolutely heartbreaking. You are hurting mentally, emotionally, and physically as your body and mind changes. Listen carefully men, please don't make her feel alienated and and more alone in her emotional/mental pain. She needs to be understood, just listen, and go learn about it for yourself, and she will be much more okay, than if you respond the way I was responded to. Heartbreaking. Ladies, if you're not getting support from your man and you need support, please reach out to other women. Find support and be safe, be okay. BTW, she didn't say lubricants don't help with the loss of elasticity from the atrophy, coconut oil has been the most helpful chemical free option, but going on estrogen to heal and repair the tissues is the only option for some of us.

I’d love to hear your advice on how to deal with a depressed spouse, while I’m going through perimenopause

Most anesthesia and antibiotics contain fluoride which depletes iodine the body needs to regulate the thyroid and body temp. Hormonal birth control also depletes iodine. Might be why women who were on hormonal birth control will have a harder transition to menopause.

Do you have any advice for my husband (73) and I (48)? He has ED, and is using diet and Cialis to aid him, however he has failed many times, and even though we have talked very intimately and tenderly about each other's experience and expectations, etc., he absolutley has never initiated physical intimacy in the 3 years of our marriage. Before marriage, we made out and were filled with desire for when we eould be married and could share ourselves completely, and now he won't show any desire.
