  Learned from my motorcycle friends in the sixties. When you think it is an carburetor problem it's an ignition problem. And the opposite applies too.

  If you run the engine with the throttle fairly wide open for a few minutes the crankcase will be cleared of any old fuel oil mix. When a two stroke runs some of the mixture is used to sweep the exhaust gas out of the cylinder and some of it goes down the exhaust port. Back pressure from the exhaust is supposed create a returning pressure wave to push the mixture back into the engine, hence the use of tuned length expansion boxes on performance two strokes. Although this is not a racer(!!!) try putting some baffles in the exhaust! If you have an original exhaust, measure baffle position and copy it. Also try timing between 5 and 8 degrees btdc and see if it improves engine running. Surprisingly I googled neracar timing, and it gave different figures for the different types of engines! Your sprocket filing reminded me of “ reconditioning” rear sprockets with a round file for our bantam pit bikes! Cracking good work! Keep it coming!<br>Phil, East Yorks.

  You need to pre heat and post heat cast iron when welding or brazing or it will crack.just a tip from an old welder.
