brother how I've been waiting for you to try out fuel injection 🙏

That throttle flap you made with the hole offset wasn't a mistake, you just made a keyring to engrave with your logo and give away to a viewer. No mistakes, just happy accidents XD

"Nothing experimental" haha honestly, if this wasn't as experimental as it is. I'm not sure I'd even be here 😅 I personally love how you stretch the boundaries 🎉❤

Good luck man!

Two practical ideas:
1). Would it make sense to try to ask someone in the community in the US if they could help you 3D scan the bike? Not sure if you have the time but it might be a nice tool to work from when back home.

2).You can cut flat metal sheet on your CNC quite easily. I have done it quite a lot on mine. Use the super glue work holding trick as in glue the part to a bigger piece of flat stock. For this part, I would skip the tape and use small cutters which impart less cutting force and most importantly don't overheat the part as the glue will let go. If you adhere to these rules, you'll be set;)
That said, you are so good with hand tools that on this small part, effort and time wise perhaps it's a toss up.

Also, those lines about being blessed with your mind but spiraling into problems that aren't important hit very close to home. But happy to hear you are well.
And yes, Scandi winters and lack of light is a real thing. I now live in Asia and whilst I miss the long summer nights, I don't miss the short winter days at all. Hope you make it through and have some tools to do so now:)

This brings back memories of my Wal Phillips fuel injector nearly 60 years ago.
Stopping 3 times on the way to work in the morning and 3 on the way home to retune it as the fuel level in the tank dropped.

I understand the obsession with problem solving ... At least you know yourself well now :)

Alex, put a needle valve on the return to get a fine control position. I love this approach! Should have enough tweaks to get that fuel record next year! Edit: A proper bypass setup through a needle valve will emulate MFI very well, especially in this application. The return line is more crude.

This isn't mechanical fuel injection, by the way. This is electronic fuel injection of the speed density variety, using variable pump flow for metering.

Once you have the rates per load and speed down you technically could make an adjusting cam that varies the pressure (various methods) from an engine-driven pump, now that would be mechanical FI, and darn close to a Lucas system. Make the cam a plate spun by the crank on a keyed shaft, couple of governor style flying weights to move the plate in or out on the shaft where out increases fuel flow, and then you'd have your alpha taken from base intake pressure and velocity (dashpot and Bosch jetronic style air plate that swings in the breeze to determine mass flow, operating together on a balance rod for adjustment's sake) and then one more input tied directly to the throttle (probably easier at this point to just move the cam plate follower to and fro with the throttle since it's not been used yet and is direct on a stationary component) and boom.... mechanical FI.

But instead of all that, just adjust your fuel map on the arduino :)
If you have issues with the delta rate, consider a Teensy 4.1 might be a little harder to program but it can still be done with the Arduino IDE, and that MC runs at 600Mhz.
