Would be nice to see you cover Chevron race cars, often called giant beaters.
I worked for Vin Malkie for a while before moving to numerous race teams/jobs in America. Vin was a works driver for Chevron and bought the original jigs and body molds.
Great work on the March story.

Regards: John Glimmerveen (Author of Hands on Racecar Engineer published by the SAE)

4 Guys and a Telephone. At Murdoch Road, I was part of the tiny composites dept when the last March/Porsche (1990P) Indy car was designed & built, then shipped off to Denver. COMTEC was revitalised soon after, to build the '91 Ralt RT F3000; before closing 2 years later. Lot of history in that building

...That time it was easy for privateers/independent teams to enter Formula 1; all that was needed was one or two drivers, a team of mechanics, build their own chassis or buy a surplus one from one of the major teams, "strap" a Ford Cosworth DFV engine in the back, and off we go...

Growing up in Jo'burg in the 60's & 70's I went to all the Grand Prix races at Kyalami and those March's were bloody fast.

Really ... one should make a documentary on the influence of British Sheds on (engineering) history

The one issue I have with Grand Prix and Euro GT racing. Once as Rural Team shakes up the money teams. The board changes the rules mid game

March has been to Indianapolis and there have been several years when MOST of cars are March's, because are/were quickest!

After such a good start, they never quite got it together in F1, and yet were often 'in the mix'. But they were making competitive chassis for so many other racing formulae. Later on, March Engineering were involved via John MacDonald's RAM team, and more successfully with Leyton House. But they were very successful in American racing, maybe because you could shove any decent US block in the back and have a competitive car. Adaptability made for commercial success, but it seemed to hinder their F1 efforts, rather than help.

One of the Tyrrell run 701 March cars used to live in a Museum near me in West Australia before it was sold.
It was such a tiny thing compared to modern F1 cars. Like a big Go Kart on steroids. Lol.
