won a ride in a 427 Cobra at Portland Raceway with Shelby ass the driver. One of the highlights of my 81 year live.

I have a 350 and 47 years later still get goosebumps every time I drive it. Noisy, but that locker rear end and that hipo motor, the car just works the way it was supposed to. Meeting the original Shelby people over the years they certainly had a great and still have a great community.

Ever since first hearing the Real story of the Shelby vs Enzo rivalry..<br>Especially when the Shelby Daytona coupe was created...<br><br>This is one of the greatest True life American Stories in Motorsports Racing History...<br><br>Cheers from Southern California 🇺🇸

In 1965, my uncle and I drove to Vacaville Raceway on a Saturday practice day. <br>That day, 4 new Black Cobras race cars showed up on a PR tour.<br>They were the very first Cobras made with the 289ci V8. If you could get a helmet, they would take you for a ride around the road course.<br>My uncle borrowed a helmet and took a ride. These cars, on that day, were shockingly fast. Carol Shelby might have been there, but we did not know who he was back then.

Fabulous account how it all happened. It was almost miraculous what those geniuses were able to create and win ! All those great men gone now. The existing Cobras are now worth millions. Thanks so much for posting this.
