Living on SS alone definitely should not be judged. Everyone lives a different life and you never know what they have been through. I’m proud to be nonjudgmental and humble.

Huge difference between the single person getting $1,500 SS a mo. & a couple getting a combined $60,000 to $70,000 a yr.

I lived on SS alone for a few years. I did work until I was 70 and collected SS at 68, after full retirement and my house was also paid off. I had always lived a semi-frugal lifestyle, had everything paid off, including cars. We also never went without, so it can be done.

1. Pay off high interest credit card debt. 2. Know where you spend your money. Write everything down. 3. Evaluate your Health Care Access. 4. Keep your space spotless for emotional wellbeing. 5. Cancel all automatic subscriptions unless absolutely necessary. 6. Sell the car and use a ride share system like a bus. 7. Understand state and federal financial assistance. 8. Work longer if possible. 9. Optimizing your social security payment. 10. The joy to dollar ratio. Happiness and the amount you spend are not correlated.

I recently retired, but three years ago I started budgeting on the "envelope stuffing" monthly system. On the 1st of every month I withdraw a set amount of cash to put in envelopes labeled for food, fuel, spending, dining out, etc. At the end of the month anything left over goes into savings. Most months I've stayed within budget, but emergencies do arise. I still pay cash for those if I can. I mark off the money I spend on the envelopes three or four times a week and save all the receipts. It gets a little tedious, but it's worth it. <br>Really enjoy all of your videos Geoff. TY
