Money is like air. Have enough and you never have to think about it. Not enough and it's all you think about.

There are only 3 levels of retirement income. 1.  Not enough  2. Enough. 3. More than enough.

My wife and I are 75 and 74. I am retired from an engineering field and my wife is a retired RN. We worked and saved wisely over the years. We are solidly in level 5. We are forced to withdraw more money from our retirement than we need to live and fund our lifestyle. Having a proven financial planner that we trust to handle our finances has been the key to our financial wellbeing. As you get older, it just seems like things get more and more complicated. Medical issues. Technical issues. Having someone you can really, really trust handle your finances is essential.

I guess this puts me at level 5 plus. I don't make $200,000+ per year, but my Social Security, Pension, and interest more than pay all my bills, so I haven't touched my investments in the 9 years I've been retired.

Pay off your home prior to retirement. Being debt free is best.

We worked hard, lived within our means and planned for the future. Now in retirement we are enjoying the fruits of our labors!

The intro is missing the female voice saying " HOLY... SCHMIDT ! ".  Myself and others really like that.  Its the little things that matter too:)

I see the population in two categories. People that want it now and people that can defer gratification to get more later by waiting. In America the vast majority of people want everything yesterday. I prefer to exercise self control and to wait so that I can get more by being patient. Last month was my 70th birthday and I just got my compensation letter from the Social Security office. My benefit is $4,400 per month after the Medicare deduction. I did the same for my pension. Now I can comfortably live on half of my income without needing to tap into my retirement investments, Roth IRA or 401K. Everyone needs to do what is right for their situation but I prefer financial security over the stress of just getting by,

I think you nailed this fairly accurately.  Your videos saved me from a timing penalty on HSA contribution prior to Medicare application. You also helped me plan out a Roth conversion strategy.  Great information, Thank you.

Guess I’m level 5. 40 years of continuous engineering, saving and investing all along the way.
