  The Focus drug is used to enhance the interrogator&apos;s ability to pick up on body language and non-verbal cues. Belters use hand gestures as part of their language and that&apos;s why the interrogator wanted Naomi to keep her hands visible.<br><br>Hand signals were developed out of the need for Belters to communicate in space suits when comms were out and over generations evolved as part of the general Belter language.

  Naomi&apos;s gesture to Lopez is basically the middle finger in belter sign language. Since the early belters wore space suits and faces weren&apos;t visible and gloves were too large, they developed gestures to convey meaning. That&apos;s why Gia tells Havelock that apart from the Creole, he needs the gestures.

  The Expanse is the kindof show that rewards vierewers who pay attention.<br><br>You don&apos;t need to focus and catch all the world-building details, but the ones you do catch will pay off.<br>The things you don&apos;t notice will hit you on your (inevitable) second watch, but the show never expects you to be well read or that you have noticed every etail. It&apos;s a show that rewards you for noticing things but doesn&apos;t expect you to.<br><br>You can watch on at any pace, and anything you don&apos;t notice is fine, anything you do notice will pay off. It&apos;s an awesome show.

  Yeah, The Expanse is like LotR or GoT in space kinda, in the sense that it doesn&apos;t give a fuck what information you do or do not retain from watching it or what information you have going into it. It just throws the information at you wholesale and eases you into literally none of it, haha. The worldbuilding and lore is so rich and they waste absolutely zero time explaining any of it, haha. Amazing show and masterfully executed.

  The little ball is a focus drug, it hightens one&apos;s senses and brain functions. For example, the interrogator can see &apos;tells&apos; when someone is lying. <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_FFN_Ue_4eE&amp;t=738">12:18</a>: Nope, it was indeed Holden who got interrogated. We never saw Shed during his interrogation. They do look similar, but not that similar XD<br>Nice that you are already hooked after episode 3, for many people it&apos;s the next episode that really sells the show to them ;)
