  Two things I tell my foreign friends who come for a visit are, it&apos;s not going to be perfect, but the pinoy will go out of his way to accomodate and make your experience worthwhile and memorable. Two, leave your first world entitlements and mentality at home. At the end of their stay, they always thank me for the advice.

  Loved hearing your two sons perspectives of the Real Philippines. Being Filipino myself who was born and raised in California, I can still relate to their experiences of culture shock since I went through the same thing when I first visited my parents province of Bohol as a teenager. &nbsp;My parents were both from small towns that had a more simple way of life but as your son also said everyone seemed happy and content with their lives. &nbsp;It was a humbling experience and I came with an open mind and eventually ended up falling in love with the place to the point where I&apos;ve been back numerous more times and have stayed there for longer periods and have even learned the local dialect. &nbsp;Your sons were right about everyone staring at first, which I even experienced since they could just tell I was from the US &nbsp;from way I carried myself even though I look straight up Filipino, so I can only imagine what they went through being these two White guys that totally stood out LOL. &nbsp;But yeah immersing yourself in the culture will definitely gain major respect from the locals and it was awesome that your sons came there with an open mind. &nbsp;But I feel their pain with the balut, that stuff is just gross 😂. &nbsp;Looking forward to seeing more videos!!

  Glad to know you enjoyed your stay in the Philippines. It&apos;s a different culture with so many different sub-cultures, dialects, foods, etc with much similarities to the Malays (Indonesians and Malaysians). I&apos;m a Filipino partially raised in the backwoods of Marion County between Gainesville and Ocala. Coming from Manila and Clark, Philippines and the Bay Area, California and ending up in the boonies of inland Florida in the early to late 1970s, I surely can relate to extreme culture shock. Adjusting wasn&apos;t easy. My sister and I were the only &quot;Asians&quot; in our country high school. I&apos;m glad you had your experienced father as your guide while visiting the Philippines. It would have been much less comfortable without him. I&apos;m enjoying a quiet retirement life in a very small town in the Florida Panhandle after living and working in central Texas for 43 years. Enjoy the Philippines!

  Hey! Thanks for your insight. I live in the US but I grew up in the Philippines. You have to keep in mind that many of the foods here in the US are GMOs and full of preservatives. The food that you eat there are organic, and caught or picked fresh. Your stomach will adjust but know that you’re eating healthier foods there. Enjoy the Philippines!

  staring at you has a lot of meanings - they are dumbfounded to see good looking foreigners, they just met you and strangers to them, or just plain shy. &nbsp;just don&apos;t get offended. they will warm up once you get to know them. Take care ya&apos; all and its great to watch how you&apos;ve interacted with the locals. Amazing 👏
