  I have been going to prisons throughout Pennsylvania as an attorney for nearly half a century. The first one I went to was Holmesburg. It was, I believe, the worst.  I remember the smell, the sound, the feel of entering and the primitive conditions inside. While  Pennsylvania introduced the idea of a “correctional institution” and has the Pennsylvania Prison Society which oversees prison conditions and assist family of the detained as well as those in it, Holmesburg was a horrible place with or without experiments.  Later, I would clerk for the judge who placed Holmesburg under judicial oversight.  Also, I think you meant “Wyomissing” not Myomissing.

  That "strange spider like structure" is a spoke wheel design created by British-born John Havilland in 1829. It was so that a guard in the central hub had immediate views along every hallway

  Some of those old prisons look so majestic from the outside. Moyamensing looks like a medival castle.

  I'm a couple days late to this video but..I knew my stepmom had two brothers, but I only met them once. Afterwards, I asked my Dad why I had never met them before. He told me he thought they were bores and didn't think I needed to meet them. I had overheard the Dr. brother (who was still a practicing dermatologist and expected to head the HUP derm dept eventually, if I remember correctly) and my stepmom discussing a law suit, but I didn't catch it all, so I asked Dad about it. That's when I heard about the experiments at Holmesberg. Kligman was his mentor. When he retired from HUP he was honored and had his portrait hung in the hospital. SMH

While in jail I would’ve paid to be able to work any kind of job. I bet having something to do AND having it pay that well sounded like a gift from heaven to them.

  This is so disgusting, and yet...as long as those in power can moralize their taking advantage of others...you just know they&apos;ll sleep well at night while others burn and suffer...

  When I was in training in the Army, around 1986, our medic class was informed that they were looking for volunteers/subjects for medical testing at Walter Reed. &nbsp;That was an easy pass for me (nope). &nbsp;And, because it was the Army, we wouldn&apos;t even get token payments that the inmates received.
