  Back when my dad was in the Navy, he was on the USS Blue Ridge for his last 1 or 2 years. She was based out of San Diego back then, so they did a lot of sailing back and forth in the Pacific. One day they had a man go overboard (I don't remember if the sailor fell, was pushed, or committed suicide), and it was around the International Date Line. The ship went back and forth across the line so many times that my dad and others on the bridge basically gave up trying to keep track of the dates and times accurately. I think everyone had started complaining about how much of a nightmare it was to keep track of everything, and the captain told them not to bother anymore, lol.

  In the baltic sea we have a small island between finland and sweden called märket roughly translated label or dot island. If you look at the drawn border its a zig zag pattern. The island has a lighthouse on the swedish side of the island. But it has never been run by sweden but rather finland, so it was decided to include the light house in finland. All was done in good tone between sweden and finland both got equal parts of the island and it was really more important with both countries not messing up fishing rights in the baltic sea.
