  The 6.5 Grendels attraction is that it does everything the 5.56 does but 200 yards farther.

  I love the 308 now . They're expansive bullet selection is so rounding of every capacity of the rifle

  6.8 SPC and 6.5 Grendel are big with hunting hogs with AR15. Both came out before the 6 Arc

  I hate the 7x57 so much it has been my exclusive deer hunting cartridge for the last 35 years.🙂

  So to touch on both the 6.8spc and 6.5 Grendel. They were both competing cartridges in a military trial during the early 2000s during the beginning years of the war on terror. What the military was looking for was a cartridge that carried a lot more energy than 5.56 At longer ranges. The other requirement was it had to compatible with the AR platform. Bushmaster created the 6.8spc and submitted it with the ACR, a really interesting design that died off. The 6.5 Grendel was created by Alexander arms, it was sold as a conversion kit, so barrel, bolt and magazine. And between the two, the 6.5 Grendel actually performed better at the longer distance in the accuracy and shooting at distance. The military almost adopted the 6.5 Grendel, the reason they didn’t was a dispute between Alexander arms not willing to sell the patent and licensing. The project was then scrapped. I do like the 6.5 Grendel, I’ve shot it, even owned one. Absolutely there are better cartridges and bullets in the AR platform today, I still love it and I  do appreciate the video Ron.

  Ron did not make himself any Canadian friends today. .303 and 7.62x39 are probably the two most used cartridges up north!

  At my stage of life, I don't hunt anything bigger than whitetails or the random black bear, so the .308 with a 165 grain bullet is all I will ever need. I've killed a pile of deer with it, it works, and it doesn't kill on the back end, either, for which my arthritis thanks me.

  Jack Lott designed the 458 Lott because the 458 Win Mag almost got him killed. The powder in the early ammunition was so compacted that it failed to completely burn and resulted in low velocity and energy. Jack survived his encounter with a Cape buffalo and the result was the 458 Lott.

  When rifle shopping for my first rifle, I was trying to choose a caliber that my wife can handle if she needed to, but has a large punch with low-medium recoil. &nbsp;This is my first angle to approach the whole selection process. &nbsp;I want be able to hunt deer for food, or mag dump into a charging bear, or do precision shooting on farm pests like raccoons and such, the 6.5 Grendel was my choice. &nbsp;I just love the AR-15 platform too, because of the rail places to attach a light for night time problems. &nbsp;I love both the 123gr SST, and all the copper options too. &nbsp;<br>My Household Calibers are 22LR, 9mm, &amp; 6.5 Grendel for ranch needs or home defense needs.

  I actually like the 6.5 Cred for deer, i sometimes hunt over fields in south Ga and they can be 400 yds across. Fast and flat works great with pretty mild recoil. (Both shoulders, hips, and knees have been rebuilt)
