The .257 Roberts. Somewhere under the autumn leaves of New England, GunBlue490 is smoking his cigar, nodding his head and thinking "I told you so".

The 7x57 is a very good candidate for the underated . One of my favorites, think mister Bell would agree , colonel

25-06 and 260 rem seem to be both underrated

6.5X55 is under rated and under loaded.

65x55, 7mm08, 7x57, 358 win, 280 rem, 250 sav, 300 sav, 35 Whelen, 9.3x62 are all underrated. I ve harvested game with all of these and more, but they all will do it. Seems like I grab my model 7 in 7mm08 more than any anymore. Just harvested a nice antelope with it a week ago, deer tomorrow!  My 250 AI is a humdinger too!

My wife is shooting a 7x57 Mauser in a Model 70 featherweight and it is outstanding. My daughter is shooting a 7-08 in a Remington model 7 and it also does a great job. We keep hypothetical shooting range inside of 300 yards and both rounds have been very efficient killers on several mule deer and a cow elk. I reload 140 Nosler Accubonds and Partions for both and we couldn’t ask for better performance in the range they shoot. I own two rifles chambered in .264 win mag and it is my personal vote for an underrated cartridge. With the current wave of 6.5mm cartridges out there it has been largely ignored, but if you can reload it is hell on wheels and is the most definitive killer I have shot on western game with a little range. It shoots very flat,  hits and transfers energy in a very impressive manner, and it would take a lot to convince me that you need anything besides a 6.5 or 7mm bullet traveling fast enough for the job at hand.

Ron is great because he doesn't shit on everything, Ron finds the benefits of all cartridges and encourages everyone to just go out and shoot!

35 Whelen is an absolute BOSS of a cartridge! 250 gr. bullet with over 4050 ft lbs of muzzle energy can handle whatever is in the crosshairs!

Hearing about those cartridges reminds me reading about them in Speer reloading manuals. I had a friend who passed away about a year ago who was a huge fan of the 7x57 Mauser. He took all kinds of game with it in North America and safari in Africa. He detested hard recoiling cartridges and thought the 7x57 Mauser was the best cartridge on the planet. He spent many hours reloading and experimenting with the cartridge. Got to hand it to those reloaders who spent many hours in dimly lite  basements keeping those old cartridges alive.

The data and technical information that must exist in Ron Spomers head is beyond belief. He lays it out so simplistic and sensically that anyone can comprehend it. Some great cartridges there.
